Where to Find the Free and Creative Education System

Talking about country which has the best education system in the world would lead us to one name: United States of America. Based on Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange data, there are 819,644 international students were enrolled in U.S. universities and colleges. From this data, we can consider that people still trust America as their favorite place for studying. But in the other hand, some people are still doubtful about the education system in America and try to compare with other country such as in Asia (e.g. Indonesia). In their opinion, students in America do not learn well about theoretical and subjects which need the students capacity of memorizing compared to Asian. The students are bad at subjects such as geography, social studies, and other kind of subjects. Then, comes up a questionable problem for them who have already trusted America has the best education system in the world. People start to think again on what educational programs that differs America with other country and become the good points to make people sure that the education system here is the best in the world.
The number of courses  variety in America are much larger than in Asia or Europe.  Since America is a liberal country, they give freedom to their students to choose the courses they are going to study. Some of students in Asia (e.g. Indonesia) still have to study courses that they are not really interested in just to complete their credits. Students in America do not have to do it since there are more choices which they can choose what they are really interested in specifically. For example, student who take liberal arts classes in language and mathematics can choose which language will s/he take, or which area of mathematics appeals most to his/her skills and interests. The specific course requirements must be met, but students can choose it up to them.
Education in America support their students to apply what things they have been studied all the time. The students are preferred to communicate and discuss problems with their lecturers or friends. This kind of live discussion has an important role in the education system. The new, fresh, and creative ideas will be emerged from the discussion. Later on, these ideas can be used to apply the things which have been studied instead of just being a theory. Of course, the applied theory will be more important and useful.
Like what has been said in Kie Ho's article, other countries, for example: Indonesian, are much better than American related to rote learning (e.g. Geography, periodic table, etc) and theories. They are extremely good at memorizing and solving problems of calculation such as mathematics or physics. This is a good point, indeed. However, they will lose their creativity if they only focus on theoretical things. American students maybe be not as good as Asian students in solving problems based on theoretical things. They are more open-minded, seeing the problems from many aspects. They use their imaginative ideas for solving problems. Thus, their thoughts are free and creative.

Each countries has education system in their own way. America do not make students who are very good at memorizing or theories, they prefer the creative ideas and freedom of the students while applying the theories for real. Indeed, the creative and imaginative ideas of the students are more needed than only knowing the theories. Because even Albert Einstein ever said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

A Double-Agent Villain

People usually think that black is identical with  wickedness, either bad things, bad luck, crimes, or even villains. Those who watch or read Harry Potter will definitely think of someone that related to black color. If you're thinking of Severus Snape, then you have the same thinking with me. Severus Snape, who always wears a black clothes, is a Potions Teacher at Hogwarts, a Death Eater, and a secret agent. Since the first Harry Potter movie, Snape has been a mysterious character and hated by a lot of viewers. Yet, he has a very important role in Harry Potter series.
Snape is known as a very cold, arrogant, sarcastic, cunning, and unfair, especially to Harry Potter and friends. Snape strongly dislikes Harry and likes to insult him by insulting his father named James Potter. When Snape was young, James Potter and his friends used to bully him. Because Snape is a kind of sensitive person,  he became insecure, vulnerable, and wanted to search something who had a big power to protect him. This is the reason why he joined Death Eater, an organization which he thought is the strongest and the safest place to stay. Start from this, Snape became one of Lord Voldemort's most loyal servant .
The climax of his wickedness is when he killed Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts and Harry's mentor. All of Harry Potter's fans are shocked by this thing and definitely judge Snape as the bad guy. However, like an idiom which says, "Don't judge a book by its cover" , the truth about Snape isn't like what's seen. He did all of these for a reason. Killed Dumbledore is not his own urge, but it's Dumbledore who asked him to do that. This is why Snape has a very important role in Harry Potter series.  Snape is not only the agent of Death Eater, but also Dumbledore's agent. He's gravely wounded by Voldemort because he thinks that Snape is the master of the Elder Wand, which is the best and most powerful wand. But still, he gives reports about what happened in Death Eater to Dumbledore so they can take actions to protect Harry.

Snape did all of these things because of his love to Harry's mother, Lily Evans, and he needs to protect Harry. You may say he's a villain, doing bad things and wickedness, but actually he did those things because of his  love. So, can we say that there's just a very little differences between a villain and a good guy?

Photos by Social-Media-Addict

Most people nowadays like to post photos of their food and beverage in social media. People like to search any recommendations of restaurants, cafe, or eateries which are famous in town.  This phenomenon has became one of current trends and following this trend has became one of people's need. Sometimes, people, especially teenagers, like to eat and post photos of the trending foods because they think that they need to be up-to-date and show off in social media. Posting the photos might be good if they meant to share and give recommendations about restaurants. However in another hand,  this trend also bring some bad effects for people who are very addicted to post photos every time they go to restaurants or cafes.
The first thing that people who like to post photos in social media do after their orders are served by the waiter is busily searching the good angle to take photos of their food.  They will retake the photo session if the photos that they took is not good and tempting yet. This incident might be a bit disturbing for others. Some people prefer to just pray and directly eat the food. When the "social-media-addict" take photos, they will inadvertently waste others' eating time and make them wait. This means some "social-media-addict" do not  give respect to others.
Moreover, searching and trying foods and beverages in various restaurants, cafes, or eateries from the ordinary cuisine to the high-class cuisine will definitely be costly. For example, seeing new photos of food that your friend post and you haven't try it will prompt you to go to the restaurant and try it. Even though you do not know how it tastes, you still try it (and maybe you do not like it) because of prestige. In another word, not a little of the "social-media-addict" waste a lot of  their money by trying foods in restaurant without knowing how it tastes just because they want to show their prestige in social media, of course.
Related to the things that has been said before about wasting money, unconsciously, the trend of posting food photos to social media has make a gap in the real social life. The gap is between people who can afford to try and post food photos (even they do not care it tastes) every time and  people who cannot afford following this trend.  Obviously, people who cannot afford following this trend are not able to join the "social-media-addict" people. Maybe some teenagers will force their parents to give money which will be used to go to restaurants/cafes buying foods and take photos of them without care about their parent's money. Indirectly, the gap in social life will force people to do anything until they able to join the "social-media-addict" people for their own pride and  prestige.
Posting foods and beverages photos in social media has been one of current trends. The people who are really addicted to post foods and beverages photos unconsciously have instilled some bad attitudes in themselves. Some of them will not put their respects to others, this might be a small thing, but important. Trying foods and beverages in here and there will make people be extravagant, especially if they always try eating foods in a high-class restaurant. It will definitely costs much, just for their prestige. This problem will also lead to the gap in social life which divide the people who can afford the trend and not. The people, who cannot afford, will try to find any way to join the "social-media-addict". These bad attitudes only happen to them who are very addicted to post foods photos in social media. So, before it's too late, better use the social media carefully and wisely.

Me and My Chocolate Factory

Hello everybody :)
I'm going to tell you a little story about what I'm going to do in my future. This story was made by one of my friends, Gladys. Enjoy!

Tisa Yotanti is a bright and independent lung woman. She likes to meet new people and interact with them. this trait will help her in making her dreams come true.

Tisa has got her plans set until 15 years from now. This hardworking girl wants to have her own chocolate factory in, hopefully, 15 years from now. The self proclaimed chocolate lover thinks that if she works with something that she likes so much then she will enjoy work. Thus, she will be able to live a happy life.

In order to achieve these dreams, Tisa plans to work at Nestle or Unilever after graduating from university. She knows that she would need to have enough experience before setting up her own business; hence, she will try to learn the required skills and earn enough money.

Tisa aspires to work at Ferrero's company to gain more insight and knowledge of the chocolate industry. Unfortunately, there is non in Indonesia. The nearest distributor is in Singapore but since she wants to work in manufacturing she will have to go to Switzerland or Germany. Unsurprisingly, Tisa is a forward thinker and has given her dream a serious thought. She is prepared to learn any languages so that she can interact and have proper conversations and understanding of people from all over the world.

Tisa is a philanthropist. She has a generous, caring and nurturing personality. After succeeding in building a chocolate factory and selling them to the world, she will not forget to give something back to the community. She will donate some of her fortunes to orphanages and to help people n need. She also will not forget about her family and friends by sending them parcels of chocolates.

Tisa Yotanti has her future well-planned out already. According to her, the thing that might hinder her plans is her tendencies to work slowly. She is not a perfectionist but she always tries to be responsible and do work as perfectly as she can.

Hopefully, Tisa can achieve her dreams of becoming a chocolate factory owner and lead a good life in the future. Best of luck!

Best Regards,
Gladys Tiffany

New Year, New Story

Hello everybody!
I think it's not too late to say "Happy New Year 2014!" I wish all of us will have a bunch of luck and a very wonderful year ahead.
This is my first post in my blog. So, let me introduce myself first. My name is Tisa Yotanti, but you can just call me Tisa. I was born in Jakarta but live in Tangerang. I'm the youngest in my family, I have one sister (that has one son) and one brother. I also have a pug (a type of a dog) named Brownie that I really love, but I can't see him every day for now because currently I'm living in Bandung because I'm studying at Bandung Institute of Technology. Since I am still in my first year which is called as "Tahap Persiapan Bersama" (Common Preparatory Level), I haven't had my department but later I want to study Industrial Engineering. I have a dream to work in Ferrero's company in Swiss (and I have to achieve that :p) and I have promised my friends to give them a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolate if I work there. Well, it's kinda silly, isn't it?
By the way, I'm feeling so cold right now. This is a rainy season and lately Bandung becomes colder and colder and colder like crazy. This situation makes me lazier to do anything including go to the campus like this morning :p It feels like all you want to do is just staying on your bed, underneath the blanket, and sleeping. How comfortable! :D
Well, since I don't know what should I talk again, I would like to tell you why is my blog address is "schokoladen-eis". I love chocolate ice cream so much and I always have a better feeling after eating an ice cream. I have some quotes from anonymous about ice cream.
"You can't buy happiness but you can buy ice cream and that is kind of the same thing."

And now I'm going to lay on my bed and covering myself with my blanket because it's getting colder.
See you, fellas! And have a good night! :)
